While the new cars Plaza Auto Mall sell have been long been making many adults happy, yesterday, the car dealership made many children happy as well: by providing free kosher ice cream, popcorn, balloon animals, clowns performing, upbeat Jewish music, and backpacks that were filled with brand new school supplies.
Assemblymember Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn, Council Member Farah N. Louis, and Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein also co-sponsored the “Back to School Giveaway,” which took place last evening at the Plaza Auto Mall on 2740 Nostrand Ave.
“We gave out more than 500 backpacks full of new school supplies, 800 ice cream cones, and goodness knows how many balloon animals, ”said a Plaza Auto Mall employee, who estimated that 1,000 people: of every race and religion in Brooklyn, came to the event yesterday.
“We just wanted to make sure the kids in the neighborhood got a good start to the school year, especially after this very tough year that they have had.
“We wanted to give them a boost.”
